The free tier is public. Install the plugin and convert: you get three conversions of up to five pages each, and five re-runs to share between them. The blog becomes real posts, and every conversion points you at the free Visual Edit Lite. No key, no sign-up, no card. Both counts are per IP address. So an office on one shared IP has a single free allowance between everyone, not one each. The free tier is for evaluation, personal sites and other non-commercial work.

Pro costs €49 a month or €490 a year. You buy it on the Pro licence pricing page and pay through Paddle. There is no form to fill in and no queue to sit in.

Pro covers client work. The editor, Visual Edit Pro, has a licence of its own and is not part of Pro. Every conversion points at the free Lite.

The free tier runs one conversion at a time, Pro up to 6 at once. Each conversion holds its own browser, WordPress and workspace.

What a key carries

Converting a shop to WooCommerce is a licensed stage, and there is no unlicensed taste of it. If no key is set and the conversion manifest declares a shop, the service refuses the conversion outright rather than doing half of it. With a licence, the WooCommerce stage is part of the run.

Setting the key up takes one command, once per machine. Do it before the conversion starts, not halfway through.

What commercial use means

Commercial use is using html2wp in the course of a business, a trade, a profession or any other undertaking. It also covers using it for money or other commercial advantage. Converting a website for a client, for an employer, or for a business you own or operate is commercial use. That holds whether or not you invoice the conversion itself as a separate line.

With a key that is fully permitted: charge what you like, deliver what you like, and run an agency on it. Pro exists for exactly that.

Your output is yours, unconditionally

A theme html2wp produces from your design carries no obligation to us. Use it, sell it, hand it to a client, publish it. That does not depend on holding a key, and it survives everything else in the licence.

What we cannot hand you is what was never ours. A licensed font, a stock photo or a third-party library that came in with your input keeps its own terms on the way out.

What you may not do

You may not republish the skill. You also may not put the conversion technology into someone else's hands, which means building a service, SaaS, API, plugin, skill, CLI or platform out of it. That applies whether you build it by hand or point an AI at it.

The line is between the work and the tool. You may hand a client the finished theme. You may not hand them something that converts sites for them.

Reading and running html2wp with an AI assistant is not restricted: that is what html2wp is written for.

The full licence text ships with the plugin, in the LICENSE file. The hosted conversion service is not covered by this licence and has its own hosted service terms.

Buying a licence

What each plan costs is in the price overview. This section covers how a key reaches you.

Pick Pro on the plans page, monthly or yearly, and pay through Paddle. Paddle sells the licence as reseller and Merchant of Record, the seller that runs the sale in its own name. So Paddle handles the VAT and the invoice. The licence key arrives by email once the payment goes through, with the command that installs it. While the beta runs, the first payment is 30% off, applied at checkout.

We issue licence keys per licensee, and a key works as long as the subscription runs. You can cancel any time. The key then works to the end of the period you paid for, and a cancelled subscription simply does not renew. You can get your money back within 14 days of purchase if the key has not been used. A Visual Edit Pro key is not a conversion key. It unlocks the editor on one site and is registered to one domain at a time. The theme it edits comes from a conversion on the free tier or on Pro.

Checking a key

You can check any licence key, html2wp Pro or Visual Edit Pro, with one command. You need only Node.js 18 or later: no account, no sign-in, nothing installed for good.

The tool answers with what the key is for, whether it is active, and the dates it is valid between:

For scripts, the --json switch prints the result as data. The exit code is 0 only for an active key. The check sends the key and nothing else, and the answer carries no personal details. The tool is open source: github.com/iOSDevSK/license-checker, published on npm as html2wp-license.
